5-4-3-2-1 Method For Anxiety Relief

Hello, it’s Dan here, I hope you’re good. Now, if you struggle with anxiety, you already know that your mind fills with all those future, possible, imagined catastrophes, worst case scenarios, all those what ifs that go through your mind of impending doom, of dread, of things going wrong.
So we want to start interrupting that stuff and bringing your mind back to the present moment rather than getting lost in this kind of imagined and made up future stuff.
And a neat way to do that is a simple technique called the 5-4-3-2-1 method for anxiety. And here’s what you do.
Immediately, you describe to yourself five things you can see around you in that moment, four things you can touch, you listen for three sounds you can hear, two smells and then one taste. So 5-4-3-2-1 method for anxiety.
And what we’re doing, bringing you back to the present by using your senses, rather than getting lost in imagined, created things into the future. It’s a neat way of interrupting it, bringing you back, calming your mind, calming your body.
Use repetition, be as detailed as you need to, run through it as many times as you want to, practice, practice, practice.
The 5-4-3-2-1- technique for anxiety. Interrupt it, bring yourself back, feel calmer, feel more in control and feeling better.
