Anxiety Equation Hypnotherapy in Ely
Now if you’ve been struggling with anxiety or fear or panic about a particular thing, then we tend to have this sort of anxiety equation in our mind; that person, that thing, that situation, whatever it might be – flying, social situations, interviews, speeches, or whatever leads to anxiety, that thing equals anxiety. And obviously, you know over time and repeating it more we tend to just kind of have that equation running and running, probably don’t even think about it, it just happens. That thing inevitably leaves you feeling anxious and panicky in worst case scenarios and unwanted feelings and so on.
Yet we know there’s got to be another step in that equation somewhere because not everybody experiences panic and anxiety and worry about these things. Some people thrive you know, love flying, going places, some people love presenting and social situations, they don’t worry what other people think. Some people just seem to take these things on and be able to handle those things. They might have other worries, anxieties and kinds of stresses to you, but we know there’s got to be another step in there.
And that step is the thing multiplied by all of your thoughts, feelings, expectations, your habits, your mindset, your thinking processes, all those things that you experience lead to feeling anxious, fearful or panicky about those things. And that’s a positive thing because we don’t want to go down the path of going, well it’s all me there must be something wrong with me; I’m an idiot, I’m not good enough, or something in some way, I’m being very self-critical and self-defeating.
What you want to do is go, well if these are things that I’ve learned at some point in my life then they can all be changed. Thinking processes can be changed, feelings can be changed, behaviours can be changed. All these things you can take control of and learn how to do in other ways and start to be able to orchestrate what you experience, to change the results of that equation.
And by changing those things, whether it’s through hypnotherapy and other things, what you find is the end result changes. So that thing, multiplied by being able to handle it, expecting to be able to deal with it, feeling confident about it, leads to, you know, a different result: feeling confident, getting on with it, enjoying it, feeling good or just that sense of knowing that as you take control of your thoughts, feelings, actions, reactions, you change the result of that equation. It becomes a different pattern in your mind then repeats and you find it easier and easier.
And then you just find yourself knowing that whatever happens, you’ll be okay and you’ll handle it and that you can do this.
