Do you dwell on the past or try and forget it even happened? 

Often it can be tempting to block out past negative experiences or, if we do think about them, to dwell on the negatives and generate more bad feelings.

I’ve worked with clients who carry the anger, fear, guilt and hurt of events that may have happened 10, 20, 30 or more years ago.

It's like they can't let go of the emotions and move on to fully appreciate and enjoy the life they have now.

Sometimes we do need specialist help to let go and move on, especially from traumatic events. Yet often it is less the event and more the emotions that we seem to haul about with us.

Despite this, everything we have experienced has taught us something about ourselves and helped us learn and grow.

So when you think of things that you consider to be negative in some way, allow yourself to pause and reflect and notice how it helped you develop, what you have learned and how knowing those things can allow you to find more peace and move forward stronger as a person.
