Is Your Mind TOO Organised? Hypnotherapy in Ely and Newmarket
Sometimes it can seem like our minds are too organised (even if we think our thoughts are a bit chaotic!).
I often work with clients who can be relaxed and confident in one situation and then in another situation they turn into a nervous wreck and can’t think straight. It’s like their mind files their confidence in a certain box that they can’t access whenever they want to – even though they know they know how to be more confident. There mind is too organised.
Now some of this can be due to associations, habits, beliefs and experiences, yet part of this is also that we aren’t always the best at teaching our minds to act and react in they way we want to, when we want to.
For example, I worked with a professional client who felt super confident day to day in his work and personal life. But stand him in front of half a dozen people and he would get shaky, hot, suffer heart palpitations and be unable to think straight.
Or another client told me how calm and comfortable she felt with family and close friends but if someone new came along she would dry up and struggle to string a few words of conversation together.
Yet both of them knew how to be confident and once they learned to tap into their own resources, they enjoyed feeling more and more confident whenever and wherever they chose. They had opened up the confidence file in their mind.
Open Up Your Confidence
Here’s a simple way to start making use of your own confidence in any situation where you could use more confidence:
1) Close your eyes and remember a time when you felt confident (or imagine being confident)- a time when you felt relaxed, comfortable and free to be yourself. Imagine being right there now, seeing what you see, hearing what you hear and feeling how good you felt.
2) As you run through that time, make everything you see bigger, brighter and more colourful. Make the sounds louder and crisper. Notice the positive things you are saying to yourself. Really intensify your feelings of confidence.
3) Keep amplifying the feeling as you run through this experience. Build the feeling up until you have an undeniable feeling of confidence. You may want to add a sound track – a song that increases your confidence levels. You might see your confidence as a colour running through you that you can make brighter. Just increase the feeling in any way that feels good to you.
4) When you really have that feeling of confidence, imagine taking that feeling into another situation in the future where you would like to have more of it. Imagine being there, with your confidence levels soaring. See what you’ll see, hear what you’ll hear and enjoy how much better it feels being confident. Run through it with everything going how you want it to go. Make everything brighter, crisper and stronger. Really enjoy feeling confident in this situation.
5) Open your eyes and notice that as you think ahead you feel more confident about that future situation. Know that the more often you repeat this process the stronger you are programming your mind for confidence and success.
Enjoy practising this and make the link even more powerful between the confidence within you and having it whenever you choose.
