Anxiety and Confidence Hypnotherapy – Real Client Experience
Anxiety can affect your thoughts, how you feel physically and how comfortable you are around other people. And when you’ve been struggling with anxiety for a while, it can start to affect how you feel about yourself too.
In this anxiety and confidence hypnotherapy review, Roisin talks about experiencing social anxiety, general anxiety and physical anxiety symptoms. She also describes the difference hypnotherapy has made to her confidence, happiness and sense of self-worth.
Her experience is a reminder that anxiety doesn’t have to determine how you feel about yourself or what you believe you’re capable of doing.
Quick Summary – Roisin’s Anxiety and Confidence Experience
Client: Roisin
Issue: Social anxiety, general anxiety and physical feelings of anxiety. She describes feeling as though her nervous system was out of balance.
What helped: Hypnotherapy sessions, practical ways to calm and manage anxiety, and hypnosis audio recordings she could continue using.
What changed: Roisin describes feeling happier, more confident, more worthy and better able to handle situations that previously made her anxious.
In her own words: She contrasts previously feeling like “a nervous wreck” with now feeling capable of speaking to a huge room of people.

Starting Point – Social Anxiety, Physical Symptoms, Feeling Overwhelmed
When she first came to see me, Roisin was experiencing anxiety in several different ways.
There was the social anxiety, which could make being around other people or thinking about upcoming social situations difficult.
There was general anxiety too, alongside the uncomfortable physical feelings that can accompany it. She described feeling as though her nervous system was out of balance.
It’s a description I recognise from conversations with many of the people I work with. Anxiety isn’t always something that stays in your thoughts. It can become a very physical experience, leaving you feeling on edge, unsettled or uncomfortable.
And when you start anticipating those feelings before going somewhere or doing something, the anxiety can begin long before the actual event. And the self criticism, replaying and overthinking can continue long afterwards too.
You might want to go out, see people and enjoy yourself, yet find that your mind and body seem to be working against you.
Over time, that can affect how confident you feel in yourself and what you feel capable of doing.
The Approach – Learning Ways to Calm and Manage Anxiety
During our sessions, we worked on helping Roisin feel calmer and better able to manage her anxiety.
In her video, she talks about being given different ways and tips to help her calm herself, distract herself from anxiety and manage how she was feeling, including before and during social events.
She also talks about using the hypnosis audio recordings, which she continues to find helpful.
That’s an important part of the work I do.
The aim isn’t simply for someone to feel better while they’re sitting in a hypnotherapy session. It’s for them to develop changes and strategies they can use in everyday life.
For someone struggling with social anxiety, that might mean being able to approach an upcoming event differently, rather than spending the time beforehand feeling increasingly anxious.
Roisin describes feeling better after her sessions and being able to use what she’d learned outside them.
Of course, everyone’s experience of anxiety is different, and the work we do is tailored to what each person wants to change.
What Changed – From Feeling Anxious to Feeling More Confident
One of the things I particularly like about Roisin’s review is how clearly she describes the difference in how she feels about herself.
She talks about feeling happier and more confident, with a greater sense of her own worth.
She also describes feeling better able to handle things.
Perhaps the most striking comparison is when she looks back at feeling like “a nervous wreck” and says she now feels she could probably speak to a huge room of people.
And that is a significant change in confidence.
When anxiety has been affecting your life, it’s easy to begin judging yourself by how anxious you feel.
You can start thinking you’re simply not a confident person, that social situations will always be difficult or that you’re someone who struggles to cope. From your perspective, it can seem like everyone else seems to be relaxed around others whereas to you it seems like something both hard and draining.
Roisin’s experience shows how much that picture of yourself can change.
In her video, she speaks very positively about her experience of hypnotherapy and the difference it has made to her life.
Why This Matters
After helping people with anxiety for many years, I’ve noticed that anxiety and confidence often affect each other.
Someone may initially seek help because they’re feeling anxious in particular situations. Yet as the anxiety starts to improve, they also begin noticing changes in how they feel about themselves.
- They stop anticipating quite so many problems.
- They feel more comfortable doing ordinary things.
- And they start trusting their own ability to cope.
They find they can just get on with the things that previously had occupied so much of their thoughts and feelings.
I can relate to this from my own earlier experiences of anxiety, social anxiety and low self-confidence.
I remember how easily anxiety could make straightforward situations feel unnecessarily difficult. It wasn’t that I didn’t know how to speak to people or couldn’t manage everyday situations. It was that anxiety kept getting in the way.
That’s why I find the change Roisin describes so encouraging.
Her review isn’t just about feeling less anxious. It’s also about feeling happier, more comfortable in herself and more confident about what she can do.

A Local Perspective – Anxiety Hypnotherapy in Ely and Newmarket
In my work with people in Ely, Newmarket and online, anxiety can show up in all sorts of everyday situations.
For some people, it’s social occasions, meeting new people or worrying about how they’ll come across.
For others, the physical symptoms are the most difficult part. They might feel tense, unsettled or on edge even when there doesn’t seem to be an obvious reason.
And often, people are dealing with a combination of anxiety and reduced confidence.
Roisin’s experience is a useful example of how these difficulties can overlap, and how making progress with anxiety can positively affect other areas of life.

“Hi, my name’s Roisin and I came to see Dan because I was suffering with social anxiety, physical anxiety, general anxiety, and just an out of balance nervous system.
And as a result of the sessions with Dan, I found many different ways that he gave me so many different ways and tips to be able to deal with this anxiety and calm it and distract myself from it, especially before any upcoming social things that I had to do and that I was feeling worried about.
He also provided audios that I can listen to and I still listen to now and I definitely feel a difference if I don’t listen to them. And I feel like the help is ongoing from him. And he also did the hypnotherapy in the sessions as well, which always made me feel so much better by the end of the session.
And I definitely recommend Dan. I feel like his approach is great and it definitely works. I tried so many things before him that did not work and I went from being a nervous wreck to literally saying I could probably talk to a huge room full of people and just feeling better in myself and like I can take on more things and that I’m worthy to as well.
So, yeah, so all round help with your self-confidence. And yeah, I just feel happier and like I know how to deal with things better. So yeah, I definitely recommend Dan and he changed my life. Thank you.”
