Hypnosis Myths – Hypnotherapy in Ely and Newmarket
There are still so many myths about hypnosis and hypnotherapy that continue to circulate out there.
In fact, one of the first things I tell anyone who comes to see me for a free initial consultation is that they should forget anything they’ve seen on TV or in a film. Most of it just makes me cringe!
Hypnosis is not about mind control or being made to do things against your will. There are no swinging watches or wacky practices involved.
Hypnotherapy is about using normal psychological processes in specific ways to help you to change and manage what is going on inside of your own head. Rather than being controlled by someone, you are learning how to orchestrate and direct for yourself the kind of things that go on inside your own head. If you were already fully in control over your thoughts, feelings and behaviours then you would simply change them in positive ways right now.
Hypnotherapy helps you to discover how to take charge of your own thoughts and feelings so that you can get on with your life in the way that you want to. And, even better, because through your sessions you learn how to manage, change and direct your thoughts and feelings, you will know how to keep things in a good place into the future.
Despite the ever growing body of science and evidence to support the effectiveness of hypnotherapy, many people miss out on feeling better because of the hypnosis myths they have been told. Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process. In order to get the positive results you are seeking, you need to mentally engage in the process and take purposeful actions outside of the sessions. We make use of ordinary psychological processes to help you to achieve beneficial results.
Despite the hypnosis myths, you know exactly where you are, what you are doing and what you are thinking. Rather than feeling controlled by your habitual thoughts and feelings, you learn how to take back control over your own mind. You start to direct your own thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions whilst feeling calm, confident and in control.
