Take Control Over Alcohol
Take Control Over Alcohol
Is alcohol running your life and ruining your life? Do you find it too hard to cut back and stop when you want to? Do you need to take back control over your alcohol consumption and habits?
I work with so many people who enjoy a drink yet know they need to cut down. Although, in fact, many no longer even enjoy more than the first few sips or that initial first taste. The rest is just habit.
Alcohol impacts upon your health and can help you pile on the pounds. After a couple, you probably don’t want to do anything very productive or worthwhile. You might say or do things you regret and that you then feel guilty for, and apologetic about, afterwards. You fall asleep easily but your sleep quality is poor. You can wake up the next morning feeling a bit lethargic. And you may have found yourself caught on the ceaseless treadmill of habitually drinking in the evenings and weekends.
For many people, alcohol starts to take over their routine. You find yourself looking forward to a drink at the end of the day. Whether it is a stressful day, positive day or somewhere in-between, you easily find a reason to drink. One drink can then lead to another and you may struggle to find the off switch. You fall asleep easily but you know it isn’t good quality sleep. You wake up and feel the effects and get through the day. You probably already know you’ll drink again that evening. It becomes a habit of drinking too much and you struggle to make yourself stop for any length of time.
Whether you want to cut down your alcohol consumption, or you want to quit drinking completely, hypnotherapy can help you find the focus, motivation, persistence and control that you need to put you back in charge of what you drink, when you drink and how much you drink.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for Alcohol Issues
Alcohol can often feel like a familiar friend. It’s been there with you through the good times, and the bad. After a stressful day it helps you unwind. After a good day, you celebrate together. But, bit by bit, alcohol can start to dictate your day and how you feel. You reach a point where you know you are drinking too much or too often.
And maybe you start to think about what sort of good friend slowly undermines your health and well-being and starts to boss your thoughts, feelings and habits.
Many people struggle to cut down or stop drinking, even when they want to. Solution focused hypnotherapy offers a powerful, practical and empowering way to regain control over your drinking habits.
Solution focused hypnotherapy can help you to take control over alcohol using a future focused, goal orientated, approach. Instead of looking back over the past, hypnotherapy can help you to identify your current habits and patterns and the factors that psychologically and emotionally contribute. We work together on what you want to achieve and develop the strategies to help you to achieve your goals.
Through a combination of practical strategies and hypnotherapy, you can make changes to your relationship with alcohol, and make those changes stick.
How Hypnotherapy Can Help You Take Control Over Alcohol
Clarify Your Goals
Together, we’ll explore what a healthier relationship with alcohol looks like for you. Solution focused hypnotherapy helps you to define clear and achievable outcomes. That might mean cutting down, stopping altogether or simply feeling more in control.
Harness Your Motivation
Hypnotherapy strengthens the resilience and motivation to control drinking that you already have. Sessions build your self belief and confidence so that you feel in control and empowered to consistently make the choices that you want to make.
Breaking Automatic Drinking Patterns
A lot of drinking can happen habitually, automatically or mindlessly. Hypnotherapy can help you to reprogram triggers and automatic behaviours as you replace them with desired, healthier responses.
Reduce Cravings and Emotional Dependence
We work together to help you to calm and dilute urges and cravings. You can change your relationship with alcohol to reduce your emotional reliance upon it. No longer will alcohol have to be part of how you handle challenges and celebrate successes.
Maintaining Long Term Change
As well as getting you to a place where you have control over alcohol, we will equip you with the strategies, mindset and tools so that you stay in control into the future. Being in control over alcohol becomes your default habit.

Five Steps To Cut Down on Alcohol
When they decide to quit or cut down on drinking, many people miss out on the initial steps and planning that support long term success. You might just tell yourself you aren’t going to drink. You use willpower to get you through a few days or weeks. However, just removing alcohol and carrying on with everything else the same often means the habitual behaviours creep back in sooner or later.
Hypnotherapy can help you take control over alcohol. Yet you still need to take some action to change how you do things.
Here are five practical steps I’d suggest to help you to start regaining control:
1. Set Clear Limits
Decide in advance how many drinks you will allow yourself. If possible, limit availability. Remind yourself of your reasons and motivations just before times where you are going to, or used to, drink.
2. Track Your Drinking
Keep a record, or use an app, to monitor when, why and how much you drink. Awareness is a key step to successful change. Pay attention to what you do. I’d suggest that, as far as possible, if you are going to drink, do nothing else at the same time for a few weeks.
3. Identify Triggers
Become aware of the situations, people, thoughts or emotions that prompt drinking. Use this to start to plan the alternative behaviours and responses that fit with what you want to be doing instead. This leads into the next point.
4. Replace Drinking With Healthier Habits
Use the information and start to pre-decide what you are going to do instead of drinking. Already know what you are going to do differently so you can just get on with it. Exercise, meditation, self-hypnosis, hobbies or other social activities are far healthier, and more rewarding, uses of your time rather than the old habit of reaching for a drink.
5. You Don’t Have To Do It All Alone
Talking to a hypnotherapist, going to a support group or calling upon a trusted friend can help increase accountability and bring encouragement.
Taking Control Over Alcohol – How I Can Help
I’ve helped many people to take back control over alcohol. Just like you, they wanted to make a change but they were struggling to make it stick.
Working together, we’ll explore your current habits and your goals and the life you want to create. We’ll use hypnosis to strengthen your motivation and self-control and to help you change your associations with alcohol. We’ll also identify practical strategies that fit with your lifestyle and give you the tools so you can manage your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours. And throughout this, we’ll help you to build your own confidence to make the choices that you want to be making and that support doing things how you want to do them both now and into the future.
If alcohol currently feels like it has too much influence over your life, then my solution focused hypnotherapy can help you to regain control, confidence and freedom. Rather than facing it alone, I can help you move towards a future where you are in charge, making conscious choices that benefit your health and happiness, and living life how you want it to be.
To your health and happiness,
