Stress & Worry Hypnotherapy in Ely – Real Client Case Study
Stress and worry can take over more than just your thoughts.
For many people, it affects their ability to relax, enjoy time with others, and switch off from work or future concerns. Even when nothing is happening, the mind can keep going.
In this real client case study, James explains how stress and worry were affecting his life and how things began to change with hypnotherapy in Ely.
You’re not the only one this happens to – and it can change.
Quick Summary
Client: James
Issue: Stress, worry, overthinking
What changed:
– Felt more in control of thoughts
– Able to relax and switch off
– Less impact on work and social life
– More confidence in handling situations
Starting Point
Before starting hypnotherapy, James described:
– Constant stress, even in free time
– Worry about work affecting evenings and weekends
– Difficulty relaxing or switching off
– Feeling unable to fully enjoy time with others
As he explains, stress had begun to take over his life and affect how he functioned day-to-day.
The Approach
The focus was on helping James:
– calm his mind and nervous system
– reduce overthinking and worry patterns
– build a greater sense of control
– develop practical ways to manage stress and worry
Sessions were also designed to help him become more self-sufficient over time, with tools he could continue to use beyond therapy.
What Changed
As James describes in the video:
– He felt calmer and more in control
– Stress no longer dominated his free time
– He could switch off more easily
– He felt more able to enjoy everyday life
One key shift was having regular periods where he could completely switch off and stop overthinking – something he hadn’t been able to do before.
Why This Matters
When stress and worry reduce, it doesn’t just change how you think, it changes how you live.
People often find they:
– enjoy their time more
– feel more present
– think more clearly
– trust themselves more
Stress becomes something you can manage, rather than something that controls you.

Hi there, I’m James. I came to see Dan to try and get back in control of my life. The main reasons I came to Dan were because I was stressing a lot in my free time, about work, and it sort of took over my life and controlled me, where I would be unable to act properly, I would be unable to enjoy social time with friends, weekends were always ruined because I would be thinking about the week ahead. And so I came to Dan to try and get on top of this stress that I had and try and control my life a bit more.
I reached out to Dan and he was very responsive, very quick and it felt like one quick action that I took to call him up actually turned into a very good choice I made where I did it in the spur of the moment whilst I was quite stressed and suddenly I had a free session booked in to introduce myself, before I even knew it we had a slew of sessions booked in and I was actually getting some progress towards combating my stress and anxiety. I’ve had therapy before for similar related issues but I’d never had hypnotherapy which is what I was sort of sold on because I wanted something a bit different and I was a bit sort of worried at first, what does this actually involve, will I get much out of this and obviously I was very surprised when the sessions were calming, Dan was very responsive. He always listened and let me talk and offered his advice.
What I ended up realising was that these hypnotherapy sessions were the only 20-30 minutes of my week where I fully shut my brain off and allowed myself to not overthink and I just listened to Dan’s words and would come out of these sessions always with a big smile on my face and almost feeling empowered, ready to take on the week.
I knew these sessions were not forever so at the same time they’re not just to get you calmed down and that’s it forever, Dan is also constantly giving you new tips and tricks on how to sort of keep and be self sufficient essentially, and not rely on him essentially forever. His sessions are great to get you understanding yourself and to calm down once a week. And you can obviously keep on going back, which is something I’m doing currently,.
The main thing for me was he had some free audios that he gave me that were, essentially, sort of similar sessions but at home I could listen to them, which is really great as a like little bumper and sort of reminder of how to stay calm and the breathing exercises to do. But the main thing for me that Dan’s sessions did, I was able to take away a bunch of tips and ways to sort of handle my own emotions in my free time such as breathing techniques, counting back down from certain numbers, how to start the day right and also even just saying the word ‘stress’. That’s something I bring up now but that’s sort of removed from my vocabulary quite a bit and we sort of both worked to change that and we don’t call it stress anymore.
So this is the sort of thing that Dan’s good at doing and he’s very good at pinpointing where your anxiety is being fuelled and how to nip that. And it’s helped me no end.
The biggest take away from Dan’s sessions that I gained was that I am now able to handle myself a lot better, I understand my own emotions, my anxiety, where it stems from and then how to tackle it early on, breathing techniques for example and sort of having a better positive outlook. The sessions allowed me to essentially not be a victim of my own emotion and I actually begin each day with a positive mindset. And if something stressful starts cropping up then I’ve already taken the measures to stop it before it gets too bad.
I would highly recommend Dan, he’s going to cater his sessions to you and find out your potential issue that you’re trying to tackle and essentially make it so that by the end of the sessions you are able to be more positive in yourself. So I recommend Dan completely.
