How Long Do Hypnotherapy Results Last?

If you are about to enter therapy then you are going to want to know how long do hypnotherapy results last.

You don’t want to just feel better for a bit, although that would be better than constantly struggling with anxiety. You want to feel better and stay feeling better.

When I work with someone to help them overcome their issue, I want them feeling better and able to stay that way. That’s why I always teach you strategies for managing and being in control over your own thoughts and feelings. That way, no matter what challenges may come your way in the future, you can feel equipped to handle, deal and cope with things rather than being thrown from one problem to another. There are many ways that you can learn that will help you to confidently and capably interrupt, dispute, challenge, amend and move on from unwanted thoughts and feelings.

Alongside these strategies, there are also many hypnosis audios, articles and resources that you can call upon as little, or as often, as you desire or need to after your sessions are completed.

Now, of course, none of us has a crystal ball to predict what our future may hold. Sometimes something so unexpected, upsetting, traumatic or anxiety provoking occurs that it knocks things off track again and you need a little more hypnotherapy help. Yet, in the usual course of things, once you are feeling better then that path of being calm, confident and in control continues consistently, habitually and automatically.

If you’ve looked through the hypnotherapy reviews on my website, you’ll have noticed some talk about how they are continuing feeling better quite some time after their hypnotherapy sessions came to end (because they had achieved their goals). Unlike some hypnotherapists, I don’t ask for feedback just right after a positive session when someone feels better in the moment, I ask after a period of time when their day to day life has been running in the usual way. It’s nice to feel positive and relaxed right after your hypnotherapy session but it’s even better to continue feeling positive and confident as you go through your normal daily life.

So, how long do hypnotherapy results last?

 

Habit, Pattern and Repetition

As humans, we are creatures of habit, pattern and repetition. In any situation, we tend to think, feel and behave in the same way as we previously did the last time we were in a similar situation. Our brain pattern matches to previous experiences and we do the same sort of things and get the same sort of result.

That’s fine and even helpful in certain situations. For example, most of us get up and do the same sort of things in the same order every morning because everything gets done and we leave the house on time. Or when you get in the car, your brain has learnt what to do (unlike when you are first learning and have to think about everything), your hands and feet move, you direct it, make decisions and do tons of other processes without having to do too much thinking work.

Yet, within these habitual patterns, it doesn’t matter if the end result is good or bad, helpful or unhelpful. We find ourselves repeating things over and over. Someone who feels anxious and avoids a situation is likely to feel anxious and be drawn to avoiding other similar situations. If you have a tendency to worry you’ve probably found that, over time, you’ve just got better and better at overthinking other things to worry about. Or someone who is stressed and so drinks or snacks to handle how they feel will find themselves eating or drinking the next time they feel stressed too.  The more you’ve done things in the same way, the more entrenched and habitual it all becomes and the harder it feels to break out of that pattern. The same issues just keep happening time and time again. You feel stuck.

With hypnotherapy, you can find a way to change these patterns into something more helpful and beneficial. You can direct and be in control over your own thoughts, feelings and actions rather than being stuck doing things in the same old way that you may have been doing up until now.

And because we are creatures of habit, pattern and repetition once you have achieved positive results through hypnotherapy, this new pattern starts to run and run in place of the old one. You find yourself continuing to think, feel and do things in ways that please you. Of course, as mentioned above, none of us can predict the future so sometimes a new challenge or unexpected change occurs and you need a bit more support. That’s fine because that’s what the support is here for.

Yet far more common is to feel good after your hypnotherapy sessions and to stay that way. You may sometimes call upon strategies, resources and techniques and that is part of self management of emotions, thoughts and behaviours. You can feel confident and capable that what ever comes your way, you’ll deal with it, get through it and be ok after it.

And so someone who had anxiety now feels calmer and more in control. Someone who was self critical and full of self doubt now has confidence and more self belief. And someone who used to rely on food or drink to handle things finds them are now healthier and happier as they manage their own emotions.

With hypnotherapy, you create new, positive habitual patterns that then start to run on and on and on.
